A Quilty Weekend

6/6/2015

To be truly current, this should have been done much earlier in the week, but events have conspired so that wasn't possible.  Last weekend our quilting group had a sewing day.  We had undertaken to make a Shortcake quilt, and most of us hadn't progressed very far.  The only requirements for our "group quilts" is that they must be made from our stash.  Great incentive to move some of our accumulated fabrics.

I was able to set up the garage with a long table and sewing machines - and heaters.  Yes, although we have had some gorgeous early winter afternoons, this day dawned grey and overcast.

As you can see, everyone was very industrious and managed at least some progress on their quilt. I was able to get some of my blocks on the design wall. I have to say the rows are now together and I just need to put on a small border and then get it quilted.  Pictures will come when it is finished.

I had a lovely customer quilt to finish this week too.  The quilt was made to commemorate a wedding anniversary.  The workmanship in the quilt was extremely good.  I am pleased to say that the customer was very happy with the end result.  Here are a couple of photos, which she has allowed me to share.

This truly is a wonderful way to remember and share a special event.

More to come very soon.  Have a great long weekend and happy quilting.

Thanks Karen for quilting my parents 50th wedding anniversary quilt, considering that I really didn't know what quilting I wanted you really excelled to highlight the photos. My parents (and me too) were both blown away by the quilting that you did. Consider me a convert and expect some more of my quilts in the future. Thank you again for the great work.

Thanks Helena - so pleased that you and your parents were pleased with the quilting. Working on such a well pieced top was a joy - you had done a marvellous job. I will look forward to working on more of your quilts.
